Matar Mushroom

Matar Mushroom Is a semi dry Vegetable dish. It's one the most popular Punjabi Dish.

Ingredients:

  • Green peas                 1 1/2 cups
  • Mushrooms                 200 grams
  • Oil                                   2 tbsp
  • Onions,finely chopped 2 large
  • Ginger paste                 1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste                 1 tbsp
  • Tomato puree                 1/2 cup
  • Red chilli powder         1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder         1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder         1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste


Method:

Heat oil in a kadai. Add onions and sauté until light golden brown. Add ginger paste and garlic paste and sauté for half a minute. Add tomato puree, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt and sauté till oil leaves the masala, then add green peas and mushrooms.
Cook on high heat for seven to eight minutes and then on low flame till the water left by green peas and mushroom, dried out, and again the whole mixture leaves the oil. Then add a cup of water or more as needed and Cook on low heat till the green peas cooked fully. Garnish it with fresh chopped Coriander leaves and Serve it hot.

Note: 1/2 Cup Cashewnut Paste can also be added in mixture before adding peas, to give the dish a different aroma and taste.
