Butter naan

"Butter Naan" is one of the most popular Indian bread. So try to make it in this way if you don't have tandoor or oven and enjoy the Naans any time at your home itself.

Ingredients

  • Refined flour (maida)  4 cups
  • Baking powder            1 teaspoon
  • Soda bicarbonate         1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt                                 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar                         2 teaspoon
  • Egg                                 1
  • Milk                                 1 cup
  • Yogurt                         2 tablespoons
  • Oil                                 2 tablespoons
  • Onion seeds (kalonji) 2 teaspoons
  • Butter                         2 teaspoons

Method

Sift the flour together with the baking powder, soda bicarbonate and salt into a deep bowl. Add the sugar, egg, milk, yogurt and sufficient water and knead into a medium soft dough. Apply a little oil on the dough, cover with a damp cloth and set aside for one hour. Divide the dough into eight equal portions and shape into balls. Apply a little oil on each ball and sprinkle the onion seeds on top. Flatten each ball of dough into a six-inch circle. Stretch the dough on one side to make a triangular shape. Place on a thick cloth pad and press onto the wall of a preheated tandoor, or cook in a preheated oven at 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6. Remove with the help of skewers or tongs when it is crisp and brown on both sides. Serve hot, topped with the butter and Fresh chopped Coriander leaves.

Note:
You can avoid egg in the procedure.
You can also make naan on Tawa by roasting it on it properly.
